The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, University of Ibadan, held Joint Action Congress (JAC) on Wednesday, September 8, 2025, at Niser Park, UI.
The Congress addressed their long-standing unmet demands, including the implementation of the 2009 agreement, unpaid promotional allowances, and other welfare-related issues yet to be addressed by the Nigerian government
Speaking at the Congress, Comrade Alfred, a member of SSANU, urged members to participate in the protest, emphasizing that they are as relevant as the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU)
“I appeal to all of us that are here to convince other people to join us tomorrow. With togetherness, we can achieve greater things,” Comrade Alfred said.
“We need to go back to the drawing board in re-strategizing again on how we demand from the government. This government has seen us as nobody. But I am somebody. I can never be nobody.”
“No matter the position I hold in the University, I am a force to reckon with. Let’s come out tomorrow and prove to the nation that we are relevant,” he added.
