The University of Ibadan is set to commence its 2025 Convocation and Foundation Day Ceremonies on Monday, November 3, 2025.
According to a four-page document obtained by IndyPress, the two-week event will feature a series of academic, entrepreneurial, and cultural activities.
The programme, according to the release, begins with the University of Ibadan Research Development Fair, themed “Research, Innovation and Development: A Tripod for Meeting Societal Needs”, scheduled for Monday, November 3, and Tuesday, November 4, at the International Conference Centre.
From Wednesday, November 5, to Thursday, November 6, the Small and Medium Enterprises Fair will take place under the theme “Inspiring Next-GENS SMEs”, with Mr. Kingsley Aigbokhaevbo, Deputy Managing Director of Providus Bank, as the keynote speaker.
On Friday, November 7, the UI career fair themed “Tech, Talent and Tomorrow: Preparing Nigerian Youth for Global Opportunities” will feature Mr. Olusegun Alebiosu, Managing Director and CEO of First Bank of Nigeria Limited, as the keynote speaker. The day will also include a Jumat Service at the UI Mosque by 1 PM
The University of Ibadan Research Foundation Day follows on Saturday, November 8, with a keynote address by Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Hon. Minister of State for Health, at Trenchard Hall.
The events continue with a Night of Music on Sunday, November 9, and a health rally and management rehearsals on Monday, November 10.
On November 11, 2025, the convocation lecture, titled “Agenda 2063: All Hands on Deck for the Africa We Want,” will be delivered by Professor Sarah Anyang Agbor, former AU Commissioner for Human Resources, Science, and Technology, at 4PM at Trenchard Hall.
The ceremony will continue daily until Monday, November 17, covering all faculties and postgraduate programmes, including the award of higher degrees, postgraduate diplomas, and honorary degrees.
The Foundation Day Service will take place on Sunday, November 16, at the Chapel of the Resurrection, while the final convocation ceremony, featuring the award of doctoral and honorary degrees, will be held on Monday, November 17, at the International Conference Centre.
