The Great Independence Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan, has installed a new solar panel at its Junior Common Room, IndyPress reports.
According the hall’s House Secretary, Obinelo Chisom, the solar installation was executed by the hall’s Executive Council in collaboration with the Hall Warden, Dr. Adejumobi.
Obinelo Chisom, in an interview with IndyPress, further confirmed that the solar was installed on Friday, October 24, 2025, while clarifying that its testing was carried out on Saturday, the following the day.
“The solar power will also provide a charging solution for emergencies when there’s no electricity, allowing students to charge their devices. Students will be able to use it to charge when there’s no light, and it also serves as a recreational spot for students,” Chisom told IndyPress.
Chisom Obinelo appreciated the Hall Warden and the “Elders” within the hall (Final-year students), disclosing that they were instrumental to the success of the project.
