Without the ratification of the Students’ Representative Council (12th Assembly), the management of the University of Ibadan has constituted the Students’ Union Electoral Commission for the 2025 UI’SU Election, IndyPress reports.
The 2025 electoral campaign, as contained in a broadcast co-signed by Ojuolape Mayowa , the Publicity Head of the Electoral Commission and Kilanko Timilehin, Logistics Sub-Committee Head, has been unbanned, but without any approval by the Shoge Quadri-led 12th Assembly, despite being the decision-making organ of the Union.
The unbanning of the electoral campaign and constitution of the Electoral Commission came at the 9th week of the academic session despite the Union Constitution mandating the Union electoral season to commence less than 30 days after the start of the second semester of every academic session.
This official unbanning follows earlier campaigns already perpetrated by possible aspirants, most of whom are liable for being guilty of defacing the University’s public spaces.
