The C-Block reading room of the Great Independence Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan, has been temporarily closed for renovation scheduled from November 13 to November 21, 2025.
The closure of the reading room was disclosed in a memorandum co-signed by some final-year students of the hall.
The renovation project, as contained in memo, is an initiative of the hall’s Elders-in-Council (final-year student residents of the hall), chaired by Mustapha Olanrewaju Okesina.
The renovation, which is part of the Elders’ project, will include the installation of new floor tiles and paintings.
IndyPress observed construction work underway in the reading room as chairs had been evacuated from the room as of the time of filling this report.
“As part of the Elders’ project, the C-Block Group Floor Reading Room will undergo renovation. This will include the installation of new paintings and floor tiles,” the memorandum reads.
