UI Releases Fresh Accommodation Schedule, Issues Application Guidelines

The University of Ibadan has released a fresh accommodation schedule alongside new conditions guiding applications into its Halls of Residence for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The development was disclosed in a memorandum signed by the Dean of Students, Professor Demola Lewis, on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

“The Accommodation Module on the UI Portal is open to undergraduate students seeking spaces in the Halls of Residence (HoRs), according to the schedule below. Only the fresh and returning students who apply for accommodation on the portal will be eligible for spaces in the HoRs,” the memo stated.

The memo further noted that all previous applications have been cleared.

“All previous applications have been cleared. Hence, all those who had earlier applied will have to reapply. We regret all the inconveniences caused by this,” it added.

Fresh students are scheduled to apply from February 26 to March 4, 2026, while Final-year students will apply between March 1 and March 6, 2026. 

According to the memo, other returning students (staylites) are to submit their applications between March 5 and March 9, 2026. While proper information will be communicated to postgraduate students on the schedule for their accommodation application.

It also stressed that no fresh student will be accommodated in the Halls of Residence earlier than March 2, 2026; likewise, returning students will not be accommodated earlier than March 5, 2026.

Application Guidelines

Students are required to log into the student portal, navigate to the Hall section on the dashboard, and select “Hall Application.” On the application page, some personal details will already be pre-filled, while students are required to provide additional information, including accommodation history and any relevant health challenges.

Steps to pay for accomodation and allocation to a room

Applicants must upload a recent colour passport photograph that meets the specified requirements. Returning students must also confirm their Jaja registration status during the application process. Only students whose registration status is verified will be allowed to proceed to submit their hall application.

The memo also sternly warn students that applications with the passport photographs that do not conform with the specification will be rejected.
