Indy Press has once again emerged as the best local press organization in the University of Ibadan. The awarded position of Indy Press being the best local press organisation in the University of Ibadan, was revealed at the annual Dinner and Award night of the Union of Campus Journalists, UI, at the Abudulsalami Abubakar PG Hall on Saturday, 23rd of October 2021.
At this event, Indy Press won in all three categories nominated for, namely: Best Editorial; Best Hall Press and Overall Best Press Organization. This will make it a third year in a row where Indy Press would wining the Best Hall Press and Overall Best Press Organization awards.
In reaction to this development, Indy Press outgoing Editor-in-chief, Theophilus Alawonde, says he feels happy and fulfilled. According to him, the awards bagged by the LPO and its individual members, in various categories, is a testament to the quality of reports published by the organization and the goal-driven mentality of its members.
“Winning the UCJUI awards is more of the quality of the pieces we churned out and the fact that we set goals for ourselves from the outset and that we positioned ourselves to be change makers,” said Theophilus. He also added that the introduction of solution-based journalism also placed the organization above others.
