Asido Campus Network, UI, on Saturday, 29th April 23, organized a fundraising event called Blue Bake Sale. The Asido Campus Network is the Youth arm of Asido Foundation, a body dedicated to ensuring optimal mental health support for youths, drug abuse prevention, outreaches and research.

The event was part of its autism awareness to commemorate World Autism Awareness Month dedicated to April. It was held at the Student Union Building Carpark and Alexander Brown Hall.

Speaking to the President of the Asido Network, UI Campus, Tawakalitu Olaoluwa, she revealed that the funds raised would be used for the benefits of children living with autism.

“The prices of the items available for this Blue Bake Sale are slightly high so that they can cover the funds being raised for three beneficiaries. All funds that we get will go to getting items for children that are living with autism,” she said.

The Blue Bake Sale is an opportunity to create awareness about autism, which, according to the President of the Asido Network, UI Campus, is a misunderstood condition and the awareness is to make people interested in autism, make children living with autism feel loved and appreciated, as well as serve as a trigger to well-meaning philanthropist to donate to this cause.

“Last year, we held the same fundraising event called Blue Bake Sale where cakes and pastries were sold to raise funds for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder in commemoration of World Autism Day, and over 100,000 naira was raised. This donation was given to the Centre For Early Development, Learning and Care (CEDLAC) Bashorun, Ibadan, and the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Clinic, University College Hospital, Ibadan.
