SIGMA Club, University of Ibadan, on Saturday, 20th of April, 2024, organized a health outreach in a bid to promote a healthier environment within the University.
The health outreach, held at Students’ Union Car Park, which started at about 10:0am had in attendance representatives from the Asido Campus Network, iCare, University of Ibadan Medical Students Association, Nigerian Medical Laboratory Science Students Association.
Equally present was Dr. Anjav Aderonke, the Director of University Health Service, UI, and Dr. Gani Adeniran, as well as over 200 students from across the University.
Among the range of the forms of medical assessments the event provided were visual acuity check (eye test), glucose check, HIV test, blood pressure test, and mental assessment test.
The SIGMA Chief Scribe, Loyalist Oladimeji Muiz, explained that the outreach was organized to address possible health concerns which members of the University community may be experiencing.
“Due to the academic workload, students are stressed, and as a result, there is a need to keep a check on their health” Loyalist Oladimeji noted.
He equally added that the health outreach program was an event for which the organization plans expanding, even beyond the walls of the University.
Speaking about the event, one of the volunteers and participants, Toyosi, noted that ‘the whole series of processes flowed smoothly’.
