“Read Books, Seek Mentorship, Get Vocational Skills” – Faculty Personality Lecturer Tells Students

The Faculty of Education, University of Ibadan on 9th of July, 2024, held a personality lecture tagged “Skill Revolution and Learning for Tomorrow’s Workforce” at Central Bank Large Lecture Theatre, Faculty of Economics, UI.

Delivering the keynote address, Alhaji Adewale Sonaike emphasized the critical role of technology in the society, while encouraging students to dedicate their time to personal growth and development.

“Passing through University is providing a platform for you to fly. And for you to fly, you need to read books, articles, seek mentorship, get vocational skills. Take courses to improve yourselves and attend conferences,” Alhaji Sonaike said.

Continuing, he advised student-participants at the event not to give up in their endeavors when faced with challenges, using his personal experience as a casestudy.

“We are here to tell you success stories, but does it mean we have not failed? No. But because we were committed and determined, we could gain ground,” he added.

Alhaji Sonaike also pledged collaboration with the faculty to enhance learning through the provision of computer laboratory.

Other attendees at the event include the Dean of Faculty of Education, Professor Adegeshan Muyiwa; the Dean of Students, Professor Keye Abiona; the Chief Deputy Finance, Miss Aderonke Adesanya; students of the Faculty of education, among others.
