The University of Ibadan Students’ Union through the Complaints Committee (Task Force), under the supervision of the House Secretary, Elemide Daniel, has on Friday, 3rd of August, 2024, released reviewed intra-campus transportation fares.
In a chat with IndyPress, the Chairman of the Complaints Committee, Ajibola Peter, noted that the significant update in the release was the clarification in the price of tricycle drop depending on distance.
“The only change is the Keke drop which was not specified on the previous price list,” the Committee Chairman told IndyPress.
Tricycle drop for “one passenger going to places where the fee for a single person is #100” is expected to pay #300, while “places where the fee for a single person is #150” has been pegged at #400.
Responding further, the Complaints Committee Chairman noted that a plan is underway to make the committee resourceful with more members.
“We have this in plan. There will be a swift response team, it will be rolled out next week. The reason why I didn’t put it out with that price list is because I still want more volunteers on the response team. So far I’ve gotten quite number of people, their names and numbers will be out next week” Ajibola Peter added.
Car or tricycle users from the main gate to destinations like Independence Hall, Azikiwe Hall, Queens Hall, Bookshop, Tedder Hall, Mellanby Hall, S.U.B, Catholic Church, Chapel, Mosque, Kuti, Faculty of Arts are expected to pay a rate of one hundred naira only (#100).
Car or tricycle users from the main gate to destinations like Benue road, Faculty of Education, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Technology, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social Sciences, Botany, Awo Hall, Idia Hall, Abdusalam, Palm 77, Talent, PG, Staff Club, Anatomy, UI Cooperative, Maintenance, Diamond FM, Staff School, ICC, Second gate, Abadina gate, are expected to pay a rate of one hundred and fifty naira only (#150).
Road users heading to such places like Awo stadium, Poly gate, Ajibode maternity junction would be expected to pay a sum of two hundred naira only (#200).
Also, commuters going to destinations like DLC Sasa, PAULESI, Adebayo Akande Hall, Institute of Education, Lakoto, IPPS, CPEEL, and UI Ajibode Extension, are expected to pay a price rate worth two hundred and fifty naira (#250).
Car drop for not more than two persons costs five hundred naira only, the release noted.
Furthermore, in case of dispute with any driver, students have been advised by the Complaints Committee to reach out to the House Secretary, Elemide Daniel, or the Committee Chairman, Ajibola Peter.
