The Deputy Vice chancellor (Administration) of the University of Ibadan, Professor Peter Olamakinde Olapegba, has stressed the need to live exemplary life as staff of the University of Ibadan.
Professor Olapegba made this remark during a luncheon session organized by the institution to celebrate immediate past Deans, Directors and Provost of the College of medicine, whose tenures ended on the 31st of July 2024.
Professor Olapegba while appreciating the outgoing officers for their meritorious service, noted that “a life worth living, is a life of sacrifice”.
Professor Olapegba praised the outgoing officers for their dedication, significant sacrifices, including time away from their families, to ensure that their units ran smoothly.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor reminded attendees at the gathering that the reward for hard work is more work, urging them to be prepared for future assignments from the University.
Addressing the newly appointed office holders, Professor Olapegba assured them of the University’s support within limits of the available resources.
“Engage alumni, who have proven to be a valuable resource in sustaining the institution. Therein lies the gold mine to sustain the system,” the Deputy Vice-Chancellor said.
The Registrar of the University, Mr. Ganiyu Saliu, also reiterated the importance of the luncheon as a tradition of appreciation by the University.
Mr. Saliu praised the resilience of the outgoing officers, with an emphasis that no amount of appreciation could fully pay compensation for the challenges they faced.
