The Rotaract Club of the University of Ibadan, in partnership with the Rotaract E-Club of Ibadan Pacesetters, organized an event with a focus on basic education and literacy project on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Immanuel Grammar School, situated beside the University of Ibadan.

The initiative was geared towards providing stationery for primary school students as they resumed school and equipping them with necessary materials and resources to support their academic pursuits.

The project, themed “Back to School,” featured a career and literacy talk, motivational speeches, and words of encouragement to foster a reading culture among the students, thus emphasizing the importance of education.

The welcome address was delivered by the President of the Rotaract Club UI, Olapade Adebayo Beloved, followed by a keynote speech by Mr. Joshua Akinpelu.

In his address, Mr. Akinpelu advised the students to value education and encouraged them to study diligently.

Highlights of the project includes the distribution of thirty school bags, one hundred and twenty exercise books, and thirty one pairs of socks to primary school students from kindergarten to upper basic classes who did not have these items.

As a result, students who came to school without bags had one after the program, likewise books and socks.

Donations were made by the Project Coordinator of Rotaract Club UI, Victoria Olisa, and the President of Rotaract Club UI, Olapade Adebayo Beloved.
