A memorandum, addressed to Faculty Presidents and Hall Chairpersons, on Monday, 9th December 2024, requested for nominees to constitute the UI’SU electoral commission, IndyPress reports.
The memo titled, “Students’ Union Electoral Commission for 2024/2025 Academic Session” was sent from the office of the Assistant Registrar of the University, undersigned by Halimah O. Adeoye.
In the memorandum, the Dean of Students and the Senior Deputy Registrar (student) only were copied.
“In accordance with the provision of Articles XVII subsection I-II as contained in the Constitution of the University of Ibadan Students’ Union, which provided for an Electoral Commission to conduct Students’ Union Elections every academic session,” the memo reads.
“In line with the provision above, you are kindly requested to forward the name (not present executive or anyone holding Elective post) and full details (an indicated below) of one (I) representative of your Hall/Faculty to the Office of the Senior Deputy Registrar (Students) on or before Tuesday, 07 January, 2025,” the release added.
The memo emphasised that nominees “must not be holding any elective office at the time of the nomination”.
The memo also charged nominated members to be willing to serve.
Faculty Presidents and Hall Chairpersons, according to the memo, were to respond, sending details of the nominee, using their letter headed papers.
