Following two months of electricity disconnection, power has finally been restored to Ayodele Falase Postgraduate Hall of Residence, IndyPress can report.
Recall that IndyPress had earlier reported the prolonged power outage within the hall, which negatively affected the personal and academic experiences of its residents.
In an interview with IndyPress on Thursday, August 7, 2025, the Governor of Ayodele Falase Hall, Ajileye Sunday, confirmed the electricity restoration.
“The light has been restored. Thank you so much. The IndyPress story really worked a lot,” he said.
Honorable Michael Olaniyi, a member of the University Students’ Representative Council for Ayodele Falase Hall, equally confirmed to IndyPress that the electricity was restored to the hall, following a meeting between the management of University of Ibadan and the University College Hospital.
“Thanks so much for helping us out. They had a meeting today (UI Management and UCH Management), and after the meeting, they agreed to restore the light. So, the light was restored and put on around 23 minutes past 7 this evening,” Honorable Michael said.
The electricity blackout followed two months of silence by the Students’ Union leadership, led by Covenant Odedele, and the negligence of such essential service for students’ use, by the University of Ibadan management.
