Damstar Communications Set to Hold Conversation on Women’s Voice and Power Ahead of 2027 Polls

Damstar Media and Communications is set to host the third edition of its annual live convening event, Eve’s Lounge.

The event, scheduled for Friday, June 19, 2026, will hold at 11 AM at Mauve 21, Ring Road in Ibadan.

With the theme, “The Liberated Woman: Power, Voice and Choices,” Damstar said the event is driven by the urgency of addressing the realities facing the girl child, particularly as the 2027 general elections approach.

Convener of Eve’s Lounge, Damilola Amoo, said the event, which is open to all students, was organised to foster conversations around the girl child.

She stressed that the forthcoming elections “will determine what becomes of the girl child, the kind of gender policies we will have, and whether harmful practices we’ve normalised will finally be challenged and dismantled.”

“We are deliberately having this conversation now, ahead of next year’s June edition, which will be post-election, when leaders would have emerged and been sworn into office. By then, many of the conversations we should be having today may no longer carry the same urgency or influence,” Ms Amoo said.

“The truth is, the best time to demand accountability, shape conversations, and set expectations is before power is attained, not after,” she added.

Ms Amoo noted that the event is for “everyone who believes in a safer, fairer, and more inclusive society for women and girls.”

“Now, more than ever, it is not just about representation; it is about the right representation – women who understand the power they hold, who are intentional about using their voice, and who make choices that bring about real, lasting change,” she said.

“A liberated woman is not just present; she is heard, empowered, and actively shaping the future,” she noted.
