looking back to the days
when they came
just like thieves at night
with our eyes widely open;
looking like unwary strangers in our land.
they brought peace, as they claimed,
accompanied with truths and lies
we thought it was a blessing;
we thought our fears would be conquered.
we neglected our norms;
accepted theirs in guise of them bringing peace.
they left us after we had eaten and digested their norms.
they took few of us
enslaved us;
turned us against ourselves.
Now we wail,
singing in one tone of freedom;
trying to free ourselves from the cage.
