The Edinburgh Earth Initiative of the University of Edinburgh (UoE), United Kingdom, in partnership with the University of Ibadan (UI), on Wednesday, 8th of May, 2024, has provided support for UI undergraduates who developed climate adaptation-related products and services.
This support, according to a release by the University of Ibadan Directorate of Public Communication, came in recognition of the fact that ‘the next decade will be defined by the resilience of small, medium and large-scale enterprises to rising temperatures, extreme weather events and changing ecosystems – and by the ability of such businesses to manage the impacts of change on their customers and operations’.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships, at the University of Ibadan, Professor Oluyemisi Bamgbose, who led a delegation of UI experts to the UoE, in order to engage with relevant stakeholders, has also facilitated the exploration of other areas of collaboration between UI and UoE through the signing of a University-wide memorandum of understanding.
On a trip facilitated by the University of Edinburgh, the following experts were on the delegation: Professor Abiodun Oluwadare (Department of Forestry), Professor Funmilola Ajani (Department of Wildlife and Ecotourism Management), and Dr. Mobolaji Omobowale (Department of Agricultural and Environmental Engineering).
