The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan has postponed the opening ceremony of this year’s Jaw War Inter-hall and Inter-Faculty competition by 24 hours.
The postponement of the highly anticipated and competitive public speaking event was announced in a statement signed by the society’s President, Neyen Williams on Sunday evening.
“The decision to shift the starting date from Monday to Tuesday was reached based on the requests we received from hundreds of enthusiastic supporters who are currently not in school because of the Easter holiday,” the society noted in the statement.
With the postponement, the first leg of the competition’s preliminaries will now hold on Tuesday, April 11 as against Monday, April 10.
In the same vein, the First round of the Faculty category and the second leg of the Hall category have also shifted by 24 hours.
“This shift changes nothing about what we already know: This year’s competition is set to be the best in recent history,” the society maintained.
The New Timeline of the competition is as follows:
April 11 – First Leg Hall Category
April 13– First Round Faculty
April 14– Second Leg Hall Category
April 19 – Quarter Finals [Faculty]
April 20 – Quarter Finals [Halls]
April 28 – Semi-Finals
May 5 – Jaw War UI Finals/ Jaw War National Competition/ Award Ceremony.
