Subsequent to clamour by the residents of the Alexander Brown Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan, against the unavailability of power supply, another town hall meeting of students held on Wednesday, 13th November 2024, to review the proposals resulting from a meeting the student leaders had with the College of Medicine management.
The meeting, held on Tuesday, 12th November, 2024, was convened to provide a panacea to issues affecting the students.
According to a release shared by the Alexander Hall student leadership, the students demanded that there should be a daily provision of a minimum three hours power supply, including consistent water supply, as previously proposed by the College management.
The students also resolved that there should be provision of petrol, worth six hours to pump water and diesel worth of three hours for the diesel generator.
“There should be provision of solar charging hubs in the TV room and Famewo Common Room and 2 solar pumps in the next one month. Also, the provision of the solar hub and the pump must not affect the power supplied by the big diesel generator,” the memo reads.
“The diesel and the petrol for the following week should be made available every previous Saturday by 12pm to ensure that there is no truncation of this arrangement”.
“Resolutions from the meeting with Heads of Department (HODs) are to be released in writing concerning clinical postings and the requirement for postings”.
The students also resolved that “effort towards resolving power disconnection by IBEDC should be expedited”.
The release also announced the resumption of brownites to academic activities on Thursday, 14th of November, 2024.
