The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has announced the resolutions reached with the university management following the students’ protest and emergency congress.
This was disclosed in a notice co-signed by the Students’ Union President, Deboye Temidayo, and the General Secretary, Joshua O. Shontan, on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
“Following this morning’s protest and the emergency congress, the Students’ Union leadership, alongside the Council of Faculty Presidents, Council of Hall Chairpersons, the Speaker of the SRC, and the Congress Representatives, met with the Vice-Chancellor to present our demands,” the notice read.
According to the union, the management has committed to three major resolutions.
On the issue of electricity supply, the management stated that necessary measures are being implemented to improve power supply across the campus, effective immediately.
Regarding the reopening of the University Health Services (UHS), the management noted that it has directed the immediate reopening of the facility to provide essential medical services to students.
Concerning the approval for the use of cooking gas in halls of residence, the union stated that preparations are being finalized, while the official memorandum of approval is expected to be released by the management within two weeks.
In light of these developments, the Students’ Union urged all students to resume academic activities immediately.

The union also commended the courage of students who participated in the protest and praised the unity displayed during the congress.
“We will remain vigilant to ensure that the management honors every part of this agreement,” the union added.
