“No Life Was Lost” – UI Management Comments on Queen Elizabeth II Fire Saga

The University of Ibadan management has officially commented on the incident of fire outbreak which occurred at the Queen Elizabeth II Hall of Residence, in the early hours of Thursday, 5th December, 2024.

The University’s remark was made public via its Facebook official handle, signed by the Registrar, Mr. G.O Saliu.

In the release, the management confirmed the occurrence of the fire blaze, which affected the Hall Warden and Secretary’s offices.

“The Management of the University of Ibadan hereby states that a fire incident was recorded at the Queen Elizabeth II Hall of the University in the early hours of Thursday, 05 December 2024,” the release reads.

“Management states that contrary to online reports, the fire incident was limited to the offices of the Hall Warden and that of the Secretary. Immediate assessment by Management and the Works and Maintenance Department pointed to technical/electrical faults,” the release added.

The University management however noted that no life was lost as the outbreak was promptly curtailed.

“Management appreciates the concern of all well-meaning Nigerians. No life was lost as the fire was promptly put under control by the men of the University Fire Services,” the release concluded.
