The Faculty of Science Students’ Representative Council in collaboration with the Basic Medical Science Students’ Association SRC held a legislative summit on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
The legislative summit themed “From Campus Leadership to National Service” took place at the Faculty of Science Large Lecture Theater.
Speaking at the summit, Hon. Babalola Abiodun, the keynote speaker at the event, emphasized the importance of leadership, describing it as an avenue for serving public interest.
”Character is the most important but capacity in the fold of leadership can’t be compromised. Leadership requires capacity tools such as critical thinking, ability to solve problems, and face challenges. Leadership is not only about titles or positions, it serves as an avenue to make impact,” Hon. Babalola Abiodun said.
While delivering her keynote speech, Hon. Tomiloluwa Awawu Oyeniyi, also stressed that capacity is vital to the role of leadership position.
She further charged participants at the event to prioritize engagement in activities relevant to their career. This, she said, will help in enhancing their capacity to serve before their departure from the University.
”Participate in activities that are in line with your career, start volunteering, do things that put you at the edge of competition, and try to build capacity at your university level,” Hon. Awawu said.
The program also featured a panelist session where Hon. Abiodun Oluwaseun, the Senior Special Assistant to the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on Project Delivery, ESQ. Kawathar Salahudeen and Hon Ore Afolayan shared insights with the student participants.
