Residents of the Great Independence Hall has on Monday, December 22, 2025 evening captured an alleged clothes thief and handed him over to campus security officers, popularly known as Abefele.
As observed by IndyPress, the incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the B-Block clotheslines. The suspect was taken to D-Block for interrogation until security officers arrived.
An eyewitness reported tailing the suspect after spotting him entering the Hall’s quadrangle.
”I was sitting at the quadrangle when I saw him. He held two bags and was moving toward B-Block,” the witness stated. “I called three others to follow me. We intercepted him at the clotheslines while he was checking the items on the line.”
The suspect claimed to be an employee at Boluid Restaurant, located in Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall cafeteria, asserting he had walked to that specific spot to receive a phone call. Although his blue sack contained wet clothes and bedsheets, he asserted the items belonged to him.
As of the time of this report, the suspect remains in security custody pending further investigation.
