“UI Has Competent Researchers to Drive Collaborations” — VC

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, fspsp, has reaffirmed that the University possesses an array of competent researchers committed to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation to drive its local and international collaborations.

Professor Adebowale made this assertion during a courtesy visit by a team from the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) to his office.

Speaking at the visit, the University of Ibadan Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of international collaborations to the University transitioning into a postgraduate institution.

“International collaborations are germane to the University’s vision to transition into a postgraduate-focused institution, aimed at producing top-class researchers across diverse fields,” the VC stated.

He reiterated that research activities are being intensified to further position University of Ibadan as a research-intensive university, adding that the institution remains committed to promoting internationalisation and partnerships that yield sustainable strategic outcomes.

According to the Head of the Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries Management, Professor Flora E. Olaifa, the University of Ibadan was selected to participate in the ILRI-Gates Livestock Feed and Nutrition Project, which is being funded by the Gates Foundation.

This is in an effort to improve livestock feed security and nutrition through sustainable innovation technology in Nigeria.

International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is a non-profit agricultural research centre focused on improving food security, reducing poverty, and promoting sustainable livestock systems in developing countries, particularly in Africa and Asia, with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya.
