UI Releases Proposed 2025/2026 Academic Calendar

A document outlining activities for the 2025/2026 academic session, titled “Approved Academic Calendar 2025/2026,” has been circulating across University of Ibadan student groups, IndyPress reports.

The two-page document details the proposed schedule for the first and second semesters, including registration periods, lectures, examinations and Senate meetings.

However, upon careful inspection, the circulated document was neither signed by the appropriate authority nor issued on the University’s official letterhead.

Efforts to verify the source of the document on the University of Ibadan’s official website and the UI Bulletin also proved unsuccessful, as the approved academic calendar is yet to be uploaded, Indy confirms.

When contacted, the Dean of Students, Professor Demola Lewis, clarified that the calendar has not received formal approval from the University Senate.

He noted, however, that the academic session is scheduled to commence with the physical resumption of newly admitted students on Sunday, 2 March 2026.

“Kindly note that the session actually begins with the physical resumption of fresh students on 2 March 2026,” Professor Lewis told IndyPress.
