Despite being mandated by the outgone Indy Hall 14th Assembly led by Honorable Gbadebo David to commence the distribution of the hall package, Peculiar Adedeji-led Indy Hall Executive Council has yet to carry out the legislative order, IndyPress reports.
Recall that on Saturday, February 7, 2026, during its valedictory sitting held at the Junior Common Room, the Council (14th Assembly) directed Team Altruism to commence the distribution of the hall packages, which include books, hoodies and shirts.
According to the resolution of the House, the stipulated deadline for the distribution was billed for Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Despite the legislative order, Team Altruism has yet to comply with the directive, IndyPress observed.
Relentless efforts by IndyPress to get comments from the Indy Hall Administrator General, Peculiar Adedeji, proved abortive as of the time of filling this report.
However, in an interview with IndyPress, the Indy Hall House Secretary, and Administrator General-elect, Chisom Obinelo, noted that some batches of the merchandise and books were ready, but could not be shared due to what he described as management directives.
“We acknowledge that some batches of the merchandise and books are ready, the hall management has directed that all items must be fully completed before presentation,” Obinelo noted.
“This decision was taken to ensure a comprehensive audit and proper accountability, in line with established administrative standards,” he added.
He further explained that the balance payment for both the shirts and the books was recently approved and disbursed, which, according to him, has proven to be a factor responsible for the delay.

According to Obinelo, the package for freshmen and staylites will be distributed upon resumption, while finalists who have paid for the hall shirts will receive theirs with the hall books before their departure from the hall.
Also speaking with IndyPress, the Clerk of the 15th Indy Hall Assembly, Hon. Bello noted that the House has already issued a directive to the Hall Executive Council to commence the distribution of the Katangaites’ package.
“The position of the House on the Katangaites’ package is that the executives have been directed to begin distribution, as some of the packages are ready,” Indy Hall Clerk, Hon. Bello told IndyPress.
Honorable Bello further confirmed to IndyPress that Team Altruism had assured the House of the book completion at the end of this week and requested that “we give them until Friday.’
“By then, distribution will commence,” he affirmed.
As of press time, the Indy Hall legislative Council has made no official statement in regards to the extension.
The newly elected Speaker of the Indy Hall Legislative Council, Rt. Hon. Abdulmatin Gbadegesin, in an interview with IndyPress, assured that the update on the development will be communicated shortly.
It will be recalled that a similar issue with the packages occurred in the previous session where katangites received their package some weeks after the resumption of the 2024/2025 academic session.
The delay in package distribution has raised accountability and communication concerns among the student residents of the hall.
