The University of Ibadan Literary and Debating Society (TLDS UI) on Sunday, March 8, 2026, officially handed over leadership to newly elected executives for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The ceremony, held at the Kunle Adepeju Memorial Building, marked the transition of leadership from the outgoing executive council to the newly elected officials.
Speaking at the event, the Staff Adviser of the society and Dean of Students at the University of Ibadan, Professor Demola Lewis, commended the outgoing executives for their dedication and contributions to the growth of the society.
He also reassured the new leadership of the university’s continued support for the society’s activities and initiatives aimed at promoting intellectual engagement and student development.
Delivering his inaugural address, the newly inaugurated President of TLDS UI, Goodness Akinloye, expressed appreciation to members of the society.
“I would also like to recognise the work of members of the outgoing administration whom I had the privilege of serving with. Your contributions have helped keep this society vibrant and forward-looking,” Akinloye said.
He added that his administration would focus on strengthening the intellectual culture of the society and expanding opportunities for members.
“As we begin this new administration, our focus will remain clear: to strengthen the intellectual culture of this society, expand opportunities for members to grow, and ensure that this institution continues to be a place where ideas are explored boldly and responsibly,” he said.
The executives of the University of Ibadan Literary and Debating Society for the 2025/2026 academic session include: Goodness Akinloye as President, Adeosun Ebunoluwa as Vice President, Ashimuyi Temitope as General Secretary, Afolabi Oladele as Treasurer, Akanbi Abdulbaaqi as Public Relations Officer, and Ayomide Faleke as Assistant General Secretary.
