Boys Without Borders Nigeria (BWB NG), in partnership with Writinova, has announced the 2026 edition of the Chidera Anushiem Essay Competition as part of activities marking this year’s International Day of the Boy Child campaign.
Supported by philanthropist Chidera Anushiem, the competition is themed “Equality Begins at Home: How Family and Upbringing Shape Attitudes Toward Gender.”
According to the organisers, the competition is designed to encourage male undergraduates to reflect on the role of family structures and early socialisation in shaping attitudes toward gender equality.
The essay competition is open exclusively to male undergraduate students in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Entries are expected to be between 800 and 1000 words and must be original works. The organisers stated that participants are not to include their names or institutional affiliations within the essay document in order to ensure fairness during the review process.
Participants are instead required to submit identification details, including a valid student ID card or equivalent proof of studentship, through the official submission form.
Submissions opened on April 4 and will close on April 22, 2026.
Winners of the competition will receive cash prizes of ₦70,000, ₦50,000 and ₦30,000 respectively, while the top ten competitors will be eligible for mentorship opportunities and other prestigious awards.
Interested participants are to submit their essays via the designated submission link: https://bit.ly/CAEC2026
The organisers also stated that participants are required to follow Writinova (@writinova) and Boys Without Borders Nigeria (@boyswithoutbordersng) on Instagram and upload proof as part of their submission.
Members of Boys Without Borders Nigeria and its campus affiliates are not eligible to participate in the competition.
Interested applicants seeking further clarification are advised to contact the organisers via boyswithoutbordersng@gmail.com.
