UI SU Outlines Welfare Resolutions on Electricity, Kitchenettes, Fee Discrepancies

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union has outlined a series of resolutions addressing key student welfare concerns, including electricity supply, kitchenette repairs, and fee discrepancies, following a stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

The resolutions were disclosed in a memorandum jointly signed by the SU President, Temidayo S. Adeboye, and the General Secretary, Joshua O. Shontan.

On infrastructure, the Union noted that the University Management, in collaboration with Hall Wardens and Hall Chairpersons, will finalise repair estimates for damaged kitchenettes within the next few days. 

“It was agreed that the University Management, in collaboration with Hall Wardens and Hall Chairperson, will finalize repair estimates for the repair of the kitchenette within the next few days.” 

The Union added that approval processes for these repairs will be prioritised to ensure a swift restoration of facilities.

Regarding electricity supply, the Union revealed that a roundtable engagement has been scheduled for the coming week. 

“To address the instability of power, a roundtable engagement has been scheduled for the coming week.”

The roundtable engagement will bring together the Directorate of Works and Maintenance, power distribution representatives and services University authorities to resolve underlying technical challenges and ensure consistent supply across all halls,” the union noted

On financial concerns, the Union disclosed that it is currently compiling documented cases of fee and levy discrepancies.

 Students experiencing such issues have been urged to channel their complaints through their representatives for onward engagement with the appropriate authorities.

While acknowledging recent improvements in electricity supply, the Union stressed that consistency remains a non-negotiable demand.
