IndyPress Managing Editor, Abdulrasheed Olokoto, has emerged as the first runner-up at the second edition of the National Wire Campus Business Journalism Awards for his article titled, “The Business of Survival: Inside the Lives of UI’s Student Entrepreneurs.”
This was announced during the virtual award ceremony held on Friday, May 15, 2026.
Other winners in the Best Campus Business Story category include Matthew Ogunwale, a 400-level Education and English Language student of Obafemi Awolowo University, who emerged second runner-up, while the overall winner was Rasheedat Adedamola Abidiesin, a 200-level Law student of Usmanu Danfodiyo University.
Reacting to the achievement, Olokoto expressed joy over the recognition, describing it as a validation of his efforts in campus journalism.

“First of all, I give thanks to Almighty Allah, then to my Editor-in-Chief, Sonaike Peter, for nurturing me, and most importantly, to IndyPress Organisation, the organisation where conscious journalists are raised,” he said.
He further described the award as a reflection of his commitment to journalism and his awareness of societal realities.
Present at the event were the founder of Foundation for Investigative Journalism, Fisayo Soyombo, and the Executive Director of the Media Career Development Network, Lekan Otufodunrin, both of whom addressed participants during the ceremony.
The National Wire Campus Business Journalism Award is an initiative of National Wire aimed at recognising outstanding business reporting by campus journalists across Nigeria.
