The Great Independence Hall Literary and Debating Society (L&D) has officially inducted eleven new members following its rookies’ induction ceremony held on Saturday, May 16, 2026.

The ceremony, which took place at the Indy Hall Junior Common Room (JCR), featured an inter-house debate competition between two factions, House Dyonis and House Ingrid.

Guided by team coaches, the rookies were divided into three teams per house to debate various socio-economic and political issues.

At the end of the competition, Emmanuel Omolmazue emerged as the Overall Best Speaker.

Other top finalists included Adegoke Alfred and Akintola Barnabas, who emerged as first and second runners-up respectively.
