Indy Press Organisation on Saturday, 06 May 2023 was announced as the ultimate recipient of the famous Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ) awards of excellence, as ‘Best Hall Press Organisation’ and ‘Overall Best Press Organisation’ at the Dinner Night ceremony, yearly convened by the Union of Campus Journalists, University of Ibadan.
With the event held at Tafawa Balewa Postgraduate Hall, the two separate awards were presented to the members of Indypress ‘in recognition of the excellent and distinguished attributions of the organization among other hall and local press organizations within the premises of the University of Ibadan, becoming yet again the receiver of such category of awards for the fourth consecutive time.
Speaking about the awards, the Editor-in-Chief of Indypress Organization, John Dare Okafor expressed a heartfelt appreciation to members of the organization for working effortlessly to put the organization at the fore of campus journalism practice within the University.
“I am extremely proud of how far we have come as an organization. We were able to evolve, and in time, it did not affect our performance and delivery. I am proud of Indy Press journalists, and I hope that subsequently, the organization will be able to keep the flag flying” the E-in-C noted.
The event, which had many campus journalists in attendance also witnessed another highpoint with the presentation of unsurpassed awards to several Indypress journalists, for categories such as Best News Reporter Award, Best Political Writer, Best Features Writer, Best Investigative Reporter, Best Sports Writer, Most Outstanding Female Campus Journalist, Best Campus Journalist, and Best Graduating Editor-in-Chief.
