The Legislative Council of the Great Independence Hall of Residence, University of Ibadan, has temporarily suspended the Defense Commissioner of the hall, Adetomiwa Onasanwo, for receiving fine payment into his personal account.

Recall that IndyPress had earlier reported the Defense Commissioner’s collection of fine payment into his personal bank account on October 13, 2025.

The temporary suspension of the Defense Commissioner was adopted by Indy Hall 14th Assembly during its third emergency sitting held on October, 15, 2025.

The House, during the sitting, established that the act of receiving the hall funds into a personal bank account is a breach of constitutional procedure.

In addition to his temporary suspension, the Defense Commissioner, as resolved by the hall’s Legislative Council, has been referred to both the Audit and Disciplinary Committees of the Council for further hearing and account of fine payments personally received.
