Indy Press Journalist Wins Dr. Ibrahim Yaji NIMSA SCOPH Essay Competition

An Indy Press Journalist and a 100-level medical student, Covenant Odedele, has been announced as the winner of the 2021 Dr Ibrahim Yaji Nigerian Medical Students’ Association SCOPH Essay Competition.

 

The competition, which was hosted by the Standing Committee on Public Health and titled, “Post Covid-19 Era: The Future of the Public Health System in Nigeria and The Way Forward” had the results announced on 31st August, 2021. Covenant Odedele emerged as the first prize winner, while Elijah Igbabe from University of Ilorin and Felix Akinlaja from the University of Ibadan emerged as first and second runners-up respectively. 

 

The winners are expected to be present at the 35th Federation of African Medical Students’ General Assembly, which is set to hold in Edo state in October, for decoration and to receive their prizes. Amongst many others, the prizes are a sum of N20, 000, N15, 000, and N10, 000 for the first, second and third places respectively.
