UI SRC Rejects Poorly Written Pre-NUGA report

By Aduwo Ayodele

The University of Ibadan Students’  Representative Council (SRC) on Saturday,  12th November at its 5th plenary sitting demanded a better written “Pre-NUGA”  report from the Sports Secretary of the Students’ Union, Olawale Joshua Babatunde.

The 9th Assembly declined adopting the report the Sport Secretary presented on the ground that the transcript brought forward to the Assembly was not properly written,  incomprehensible, and not duly signed. The report is expected to be an account of pre-NUGA game activities and its financial analysis.

Moving a motion for the firm rejection of the report, a member representing Kenneth  Mellanby Hall, Honorable Ogundele Opeyemi Rufus demanded that the Sports Secretary reappear at the next sitting, with “a better, well documented, befitting” analysis of the pre-NUGA report.

In a separate chat with Indy Press, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Honourable Eniola  Olatoye from Queen Idia Hall pointed out that the report was dismissed with the expectation that the Sports Secretary will reappear at the next sitting with an appropriate report. “The budget has been passed long ago. Pre – NUGA has already taken place a long  time ago, so it is the report of the activities and expenditure that was rejected.”

“It was not only rejected because of the signature – that was one of the reasons. The document was poorly presented, it was not even understandable enough for us. We couldn’t understand it well enough. Then it was also not signed” the Speaker said.

“We asked him to bring another document at our next sitting for us to have a proper understanding of what he was reporting. We asked that a better and more detailed and more presentable report be brought at the next sitting for us to take it” the Speaker added.
