Comic Con Ibadan 2023 holds Convention, Invites Students

An art hub, under the pseudonym Comic Con Ibadan 2023 has organized an event for students, lovers of animation and Afro-themed art, and the general public, towards its forthcoming convention, which has been scheduled to hold on Saturday, 25th March 2023 at New Culture Studio, Mokola, Ibadan.

In view, the event also intends to promote Africa-oriented themes and art and award honour, while positioning the city of Ibadan as a center for ingenious creativity.

Speaking with Indy Press, the Head of Publicity and Media of the initiative, Theophilus Femi Alawonde described the event as a grand opportunity to bring individuals who either are familiar or unfamiliar with the art of animation together. 

“In organizing this, we’re planning to promote Afro-themed art, recognize creatives and studios through the awards ceremony, and also project Ibadan as a mélange of the old and the new.”

Speaking briefly about activities that would be featured at the occasion, Mr. Alawonde noted that the initiative has lined a row of recreative activities which include face painting, and masterclasses, among others.

“Activities we’ve lined up include face painting, cosplaying, sales of comics and animation merchandise, exhibitions, music, poetry, masterclasses on freelancing as a creative, and NFT, among others.”

He stated that admission into the event is free but interested participants must register before the deadline Saturday, 18th of March. ‘’This event is proudly supported  by Macroverse Media, Emak Comics, and Tru Comics and has Comics Archive Africa, The Artivists Africa, Legit NG, Africa Comicade, and Watchroom as partners”, he added.
