University of Ibadan commiserates demise of Olubadan

The University of Ibadan Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, has on behalf of the Council, Senate, Congregation, staff and students of the University of Ibadan commiserated with the Olubadan in-Council, and the people of Ibadanland over the death of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Senator Dr. Mohood Olalekan Ishola Balogun, Alli Okunmade II.

Professor Adebowale who prayed for the repose of the soul of the Imperial Majesty hoped that peace would continue to be upon Ibadanland.

The late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, who died on Thursday, will be buried on Friday evening in Ibadan, as announced by family.

The late monarch, who died barely 72 hours after completing two years on the throne as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, will be buried at his Aliiwo ancestral home by 4 p.m according to Islamic rites.

Also, the Vice Chancellor has seized the opportunity to again appreciate the generous donation of the land on which the University stands by the people of Ibadanland.

The demise of Oba Lekan Balogun at age 81 was announced by the Oyo State government.
