Spyro Visits UI Management, Lauds Alma Mater

Nigerian Singer, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, professionally known as Spyro, has at 21st March, 2024, paid a visit to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, Professor Peter O. Olapegba.

The singer who is known for his hit song titled ‘”Who is your Guy?”, first released in November 2022, paid a surprise visit to the University staff and management.

Speaking to the Deputy Vice Chancellor on the essence of innate skills, the artist noted that “education is paramount, but youths must also be encouraged to develop their talents”.

He recalled that his father had wanted him to study Architecture, but he had ended up in the English Department, which assisted him in following his dream and developing his music career.

“UI made me hardworking because there was no shortcut to success in those days, you had to read and read” Spyro further stated.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, who is also the Director in charge of the Office of Alumni Relations, stated that UI does not joke with its alumni who were the most potent force the University has.

Professor Olapegba noted that the office of Alumni relations was created to cater for the needs of the Alumni and to enable the University keep track of the graduates that it had produced in the past 75 years.

The DVC went further to say that UI is so globally recognized that the University is popular as a result of its excellence.
