Indy Hall 15th Assembly Orders Probe Into Missing Merchandise Records, Summons Former Financial Commissioner

By IndyPress News Desk

The Great Independence Hall 15th Legislative Council has ordered an investigation into unresolved issues surrounding the distribution of hall merchandise, directing that key records on shirts and financial transactions be produced following concerns over missing documentation.

This decision followed a presentation by the Indy Hall Administrator General, Obinelo Chisom, who provided updates on the distribution of hall merchandise during the third Ordinary Sitting of the Council, held at the Indy Hall Junior Common Room on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Speaking at the sitting, Obinelo noted that residents who paid for hall books may collect them from the Financial Commissioner upon presenting their receipts.

However, he explained that the situation regarding hall shirts remains unresolved due to incomplete records inherited from the previous administration.

“Regarding the shirts, we lack the contractor’s details, and the contractee has not been forthcoming. As for those currently being distributed, the specifics remain unclear. I have instructed the Financial Commissioner to conduct an inventory. While we are working with the available information, the count is still ongoing,” Obinelo told the Council.

According to him, the distribution process began under the previous Financial Committee, but the former Administrator General failed to hand over necessary details before leaving office.

Responding to inquiries from the Speaker regarding an unbranded hall shirt in his possession, the Administrator General stated it was obtained through the former Indy Hall PRO, Oladapo Salvador, adding that the previous Administrator General had not officially handed it over.

He also disclosed that the former Administrator General informed him that he had yet to receive university clearance, preventing him from joining the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), but promised to forward the outstanding records before his departure.

“The previous AG stated that he has not been cleared by the university, which means he cannot proceed to NYSC. He expects to provide the details before June so he can begin his youth service,” he said.

Following deliberations, the Speaker directed the Administrator General to contact the former Financial Commissioner and requested the submission of two key documents: a total inventory of hall shirts and the financial report from the previous administration.

According to the resolution of the house, the previous financial commissioner, Victor, is to appear before the House Committee on Friday, May 22,2026 at 8:30 PM.

The deadline for submitting the requested information was set for Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
