School Abduction: NANS Threatens to Storm Oyo

The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, has vowed to storm Oyo State in demand for the release of the abducted teachers and students in the state.

He made this known on Thursday, May 28, 2026, through a post on his official Facebook page.

“The continuous hostage of the kidnapped students and teachers in Orire Local Government Area of Oyo State is unacceptable. The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) will storm Oyo State with all its structures in the coming days to demand the immediate release of our students and teachers,” he wrote.

As of the time of filing this report, despite provisions in the Students’ Union constitution under the preamble section which mandates the union:

“To engage our members in the national scheme of social progress aimed at the total mobilization of Nigerian students towards realizing national ideals and to draw attention at all times and in all places to any form of exploitation, discrimination, oppression, and other social vices among students and to work for the realization of peace in our community,”

The University of Ibadan Students’ Union under the leadership of Deboye Temidayo is yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
