The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnership (RISP), University of Ibadan, is set to hold a Student Information and Engagement Session on Friday, August 7, 2026.

The program is part of the activities leading up to the University of Ibadan Career Fair 2026, scheduled for November 5, 2026.

According to the organizers, the virtual session will be held at 6PM via Google Meet. It is designed to allow students to learn more about the Career Fair, provide updates on ongoing preparations, and offer participants an opportunity to ask questions.

Speaking in a conversation with IndyPress, Dr. Oluchi Maduka, the convener, explained that the engagement session would serve as an avenue to brief students on the series of programs lined up ahead of the Career Fair.

“Come and hear what we are preparing for you; it is more like an information session, which is why we are having a Google Meet on Friday,” she said.

According to Dr. Maduka, the Career Fair will be preceded by several activities, including masterclasses and Google workshops aimed at preparing participants for opportunities available during the main event.

She noted that the Google Meet session would also be used to call for student volunteers to support the Career Fair.

“We want to let the students know what we are preparing for them, answer their questions, and also call for volunteers who would like to be part of our team during the Career Fair,” she stated.

Dr. Maduka further disclosed that the organizers have created a dedicated WhatsApp community for final-year students and recent graduates to facilitate communication and provide timely updates about the program.

She explained that membership is intentionally limited to these two categories because the Career Fair is expected to attract numerous employers and industry representatives seeking qualified candidates.

According to her, the organizers are proposing interview sessions during the Career Fair, with the possibility of some participants securing employment immediately after the event.

She added that final-year students eligible for internship opportunities, as well as recent graduates who have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, are the primary beneficiaries of the initiative.

“We want to ensure that those who are considered for employment opportunities are eligible. That is why the WhatsApp group is restricted to final-year students and recent graduates,” she explained.

The Student Information and Engagement Session is expected to provide prospective participants with a clearer understanding of the Career Fair this November.
