Following Discharge-of-Duties Concerns, Indy Hall 15th Assembly Orders PRO to Refund ₦25,000 Data Allowance, Sign Undertaking

The Great Independence Hall 15th Assembly has directed the Hall’s Public Relations Officer, Sodiq Hammed, to refund ₦25,000 from his approved data allowance and sign an undertaking to properly discharge his duties.

The directive followed a recommendation by the Independence Hall Legislative Council Publicity Committee headed by Hon. Akeredolu Joshua concerning the performance of the office of the Public Relations Officer.

According to the recommendation, the PRO is to refund ₦25,000, calculated at ₦5,000 for five months from July to November 2026, from the ₦120,000 approved data allowance to the Hall’s account as a value-for-money measure within five working days.

He was also directed to sign an undertaking within 24 hours, committing to properly discharge the responsibilities of his office.

The directive was issued during the fourth ordinary sitting of the Independence Hall Legislative Council, held at the Hall’s Junior Common Room on Friday, August 14, 2026.

In addition to the committee’s recommendation, Hon. Jerome-Ohiare Oluwasemipe  moved a motion directing the Public Relations Officer to create at least three video contents for publication across the Hall’s social media platforms within two weeks.

“I want to move a motion that the PRO should also endeavour to make at least three engaging content pieces about our hall or any other thing he feels should be posted on all our social media platforms, in not more than two weeks,” Oluwasemipe said.

The motion was seconded by Hon. Adetomiwa Onasanwo David.

The House adopted the motions at exactly 7:01 PM.
