Two suspected students have been caught at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Hall of Residence for alleged theft, IndyPress has learned.
According to an eyewitness resident, the incident occurred at around minutes to 1 PM on Friday, August 21, 2026, when two individuals were reportedly caught with two laptops in the hall.
The eyewitness said students apprehended the suspects and made them dance to mockery music in front of D Block before handing them over to the university’s security personnel.
“They stole two laptops and when they were caught, they were asked to dance here in front of D Block before they were handed over to the security personnel,” the eyewitness stated.
Speaking with IndyPress, the Chief Security Officer of the University of Ibadan Security Network (Abefele) condemned the action taken by student resident.
“It is very wrong for any student to law in his/her hand to apply any jungle justice. The best thing is to call on safety unit,”he said.
He added that the judgement on such matter lies with the school Authority.
The identities of the two individuals and further details about the incident could not be independently verified as of the time of filing this report.
