The Faculty of Law, University of Ibadan, has formally taken over a newly completed building complex at Ajibode following its handover by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale on Friday August 21, 2026.

The project was executed under the Needs Assessment Intervention of the Federal Ministry of Education.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Professor Adebowale explained that the  Needs Assessment projects are governed by strict regulations of the Federal Ministry of Education.

“Needs Assessment projects are subject to strict regulations from the Ministry of Education and certain modifications require the approval of the Implementation Monitoring Committee (IMC),” he disclosed.

He described the building as a “historic edifice,” noting that while challenges were encountered from conception to completion, the University had learned important lessons from the experience.

Professor Adebowale commended Professor Oluyemisi A. Bamgbose, SAN, the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Innovation and Strategic Partnerships and former Dean of the Faculty of Law, for her persistent advocacy for the completion of the project.

Also speaking, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Professor Adekunle Aina expressed his gratitude over the formal handover, describing the occasion as an opportunity for the Faculty to strengthen legal education, advance research and deepen its engagement with the legal profession and the wider society.

“I express joy and gratitude over the formal handover of the facility, the occasion is an opportunity for the faculty to strengthen legal education, deepen research and improve its engagement with the legal profession and wider society,” he said.
