The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Kayode O. Adebowale, has gifted the Hall Warden of Independence Hall of Residence, Dr. Adekunle Odedokun, a new Hewlett-Packard (HP) laptop for the administrative use of the hall.
The laptop was presented to Dr. Odedokun during an alumni visit to the hall on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Independence Hall car park.
Presenting the laptop, Prof. Adebowale urged the Hall Warden to use the device for the effective management of the hall while also creating a dedicated space for engaging with the hall’s alumni.
“The number of alumni today is in excess of 500,000, and I’m sure we have not explored them. If we don’t have a relationship with them, we can’t tell them to come and give back. It is the relationship that matters. So, use this for the management of the hall and also create a space there for the alumni,” he said.
In his charge, the VC underscored the importance of maintaining strong relationships between the University, its halls of residence, and their alumni, particularly in leveraging alumni networks for continued development and support.
