The Literary and Debating Society, University of Ibadan (TLDS’UI) has formally acknowledged the public statement issued by the Faculty of Law Literary and Debating Society concerning the contentious semi-final round of Jaw War 2026.
The official response was contained in a statement jointly signed by Akinloye Goodness, President of TLDS’UI, and Ashimiyu Temitope, General Secretary of TLDS’UI on Friday, September 18, 2026.
Recall that following the conclusion of the semi final between the Faculty of Law and Education, the Faculty of law request for a reassessment of the semi final round over grading by the judges.
Addressing the concerns raised by the Law debaters, TLDS’UI assured stakeholders that the issues presented have been noted and are undergoing a thorough review.
”We also affirm the integrity of our judges as well as the conduct of the competition.”
The society also urged the student community to remain calm as investigations and evaluations continue behind the scenes.
”We kindly request the patience and understanding of all stakeholders as this process is concluded. An official update will be communicated by the Society in due course,” it added.
