The University of Ibadan Electrical Maintenance Unit has attributed the ongoing power outage at the University to a fault on the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) 132kV transmission line supplying the University of Ibadan and Ibadan North 132/33kV Injection Substations.
This was disclosed in a WhatsApp notice issued by the Electrical Maintenance Unit, Works and Maintenance Department, University of Ibadan, on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
“This is to inform the Management and the University community that there is currently a power outage affecting the University of Ibadan due to a snap/fault on the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) 132kV transmission line supplying the University of Ibadan (UI) and Ibadan North 132/33kV Injection Substations,” the notice stated.
According to the University Electrical Maintenance Team, the fault has resulted in an interruption of electricity supply to the affected areas.
The team added that the Transmission Company of Nigeria is expected to continue efforts to locate and rectify the fault and restore normal power supply.
“The University Electrical Maintenance Team is also monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates as more information becomes available,” it added.
