Friends of Damien Foundation Inducts New Members

It was an elating atmosphere at Number 1, Oba Momoh Lane, Iyaganku GRA, Ibadan, the headquarters of Damien Foundation, as Friends of Damien Foundation officially inducted new friends of the Foundation. The event, which had the country representative of the Nigeria project, Dr Osman Eltayeb, in attendance, also featured the handing over of some key executive posts from members that have graduated from the university to the new executives of the foundation. The new executives are Isaac Oshibowale of the Department of Electronic Engineering; Ogunfolaji Oluwatimilehin of the Department of Biomedical Laboratory Science and Olayinka Miskiat of the Faculty of Pharmacy. Meanwhile, Ezeichina Collins, Olajuwon Folasade and Owoeye Williams retained their executive posts as the President, Vice President and the Public Relations Officer respectively.

The induction ceremony, which was held on Saturday, 1st May 2021, featured talks from the staff of the mother-body of the student club, Damien Foundation. Prominent among them was the talk by Professor Regina Oladokun, where she extolled the new inductees to make the best use of the time volunteering for the foundation.

While giving updates on the activities of the Damien Foundation, the country representative, Dr Osman, mentioned to the delight of the Friends that an office will be secured for Friends of Damien Foundation from the proposed Tuberculosis Research and Training Centre to be situated in the University of Ibadan.

The inductees left with a more robust knowledge about tuberculosis and Hansen’s disease (leprosy) which are the focal diseases for the foundation.
