The UI Students’ Union Bursary Committee, disbursed the sum of #20,000 to 71 beneficiaries at First Bank Building, Faculty of Agriculture, on Tuesday, 7th November, 2023.
The event had in attendance, members of the school management, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. I. A. Abiona and the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Aderonke Baiyeroju, as well as the Students’ Union executives, members of the 2023 UI’SU bursary committee and many student-beneficiaries who came to receive the bursary package.
“We received a remarkable 939 applications for the bursary program, 492 students wrote the bursary selection examination, 292 student passed and were taken through a rigorous interview process, finally, 71 students were selected to receive the bursary package,” Mr. Adewale Alabi, Chairman UI’SU Bursary Committee said during his report speech.
Mr. Adewale Alabi also expressed his delight in the actualization of the bursary program, despite the initial obstacles encountered when sourcing for funds from alumni.
The DVC Academic, Prof Aderonke Baiyeroju, encouraged the students to notwithstanding their current level, ensure that they determine to be great, as well as echoing the need for them to give back to their alma mater when they eventually become great.
